Lousy conditions didn't stop us from having a very productive day fluking. Fished locally again today and ground out a very respectable day. High hook goes to goes to Crabby with 50 shorts and 5 keepers orl.

John Lu had 3 nice fish, as well as Tom from the sharks and Joe spro landed a nice fatty.

Lots of action even I landed a 5lber!

Sailing daily. Come get in on the light tackle fun, There seems to be no shortage on action and quality keepers right outside our front door!

Had a short half day school charter today that went about as good as can be expected. Anchored up on the porgy grounds hoping to keep the kids occupied with the scup and boy did we. Slowly built up to a pretty good pick and caught most of what we needed for a limit, along with a few blues and even a keeper striped bass.

After having their fill of porgies we decided to change gears and make a few fluke drifts before heading home and were rewarded with great action on the shorts and a pretty good amount of keepers, four on the first drift alone. Picked at them like that for the next couple drifts and then called it an early day.

Despite the tough conditions today ended up with a pretty good day.

Blowing pretty good out of the northeast all day which made for less than ideal drifting conditions but the fluke didn't really seem to mind.

A hearty group of anglers stayed at the rail all day with great action on the shorts and by days end around 40 or so keepers. High hooks had 3 and 4 keepers with the pool fish being caught by long time regular John Liu with a beauty a little over 7 lbs, honorable mention goes to Jalisa(hopefully I spelled it right) with a another nice flattie that was about 5 and a half pounds.

Gonna get Amanda to post some of the pics for me later after she gets in from tonights porgy trip, I'm lucky I can type a post.

Well Amanda took the day off today to do some much needed errands and other odds and ends and boy did she pick a good day to miss.

Tough conditions today with the wind blowing good out of the east against an outgoing tide which made us fish the conditions instead of where we wanted to. Despite a big effort by all on board casting around and changing tactics all day long we just couldn't find a good and consistent bite to work on.

Ended the day with some keepers but not nearly what we have been catching, even the short life was stunted quite a bit today, the only thing that seemed to bite good in the easterly winds was the sea robins.

Got some crappy weather coming then things should get back to normal. Freddy Azaiter won the pool, congrats Freddy, always a pleasure to have you and your group aboard.

May 31, 2012
Ho-ray for porgies and early nights! My cousin Caitlin came out tonight for a nice relaxing night fishing which quickly turned her limiting out on nice sized scup then spending the rest of the night skinning with me. What are friends for if it isn't free labor right?

As Captain James anchored up and I could see the look of delight and excitement on his face as he told me to Tye up the anchor. I looked down the deck expecting the porgies to be flying in the boat but the truth is it took a few mins then we got one... then another... then complete madness. I started cutting fish immediately!

We took a nice SLOW ride home, Caitlin and I filleted in the bow and the boys scaled in gutted in the back. Captain James put on pandora radio through the boats new sound system and Caitlin, Myself and a few customers all sang and danced and joked the entire ride home. They also enjoyed the cool weather and the sunset as Caitlin and I fell right back into how it used to be when we worked deck together a few years ago.

So grateful to have such a great job where I can share in wonderful memories with friends and family.

Sailed tonight with a decent crowd. We set out for a mixed bag and it was achieved.

Started out fluke fishing. Several shorts and a handful of keepers it wasn't as good as it has been so we went down the beach for a few scup.

Got lucky and ran over a nice pile of fish. Anchored up put out the chum and built up a very good bite. We got all that we needed including a few bonus fish! A tagged stripped bass, One bass that got away. A few blues even chased up our porgies. We had very large sea bass that were returned unharmed..just a little drool on them.

Just a quick blurb, getting packed up to go to Massachusetts cod fishin and then floundering when I got a text from Captain Amanda that they already limited on porgies tonight.

Fluke fishing on the day trip was also solid today, a bunch of anglers with 2 & 3 keepers, pool fish going a little over 6 with good short life.

Amanda will have the detailed picture report later tonite.
******************************************************************
Captain James has been loading up the boat with giant scup for the past three nights. The only problem is we caught them after dark and them I had to fillet a

million porgies on the way home. I was tired of cutting all the fish and going to bed at 1 am so I shipped him to Massachusetts and ran the boat tonight.

Well I'm so tired so I decided to get this trip done quick! We are almost limited out at 6:38 pm. Will be on our way home soon!

-Amanda

I will post later about the phenomenal fluke fishing we have been having and had again today but am too busy right now helping people take their porgies off their hooks.
May 19, 2012
Very good bite today on our 12-4 American legion charter. Tons of short action with the most keepers that we have had so far this season. The poolfish was a battle between twin 7lbers with the winner being caught on the last drift for the upset.

Fishing was also solid in the morning with a lot of short life and a good amount of keepers. The pool fish went a little over 5lbs.

Just set up on the porgy grounds with a pick going already with a savage bite at sunset the last three nights, hoping tonite will be 4 in a row.

When I got up today I was surprised to be greeted by NW gusting to 20. I put on an extra pair of thermals and went down to the boat.

I debated on the ride out if we should start porgy fishing or if you we should stick to the plan and go fluking. I figured we had to pass the area that I wanted to fish to get to the porgy grounds so we are rigged up might as well take a drift. A little rolly but a 4lb and 3lb fluke along with around 20 shorts later the waves suddenly didn't seem so big.

We continued to fish the area for the rest of the day, switching over once for bass and getting a few. It was a little less then a grind. One drift was good with a lot of life and 2-3 keepers, then the next was mostly shorts. The grind payed off in the end with about a 2 keeper a person average. High hook was Christain with 3 keepers and a keeper bass (pool fish)

Been flukin so far this season on our 4:30 PM trips so tonite we decided to check out the porgy grounds before the official start date of our porgy opener.

Glad we did, limited out and on our way home on a slow bell, started the night with a very slow pick that built to a slow pick, to a decent pick to very good fishin.

Besides the porgies we also had one keeper fluke, a sea bass, released, a bluefish and about 5 beautiful blackfish that it broke my heart to release but it's their closed spawning season so we gave them a pat on the tail and sent them on their way.

Gonna be porgy fishing on our 4:30 PM trips from here on out with full day fluke Monday through Friday at 7AM.

So we didn't have enough people to come out tonight. We sat on the boat milled around and did a little dock work. I gave my dad a call when I got back to my house and we both agreed it was to nice of a night to not going fishing. So back to the boat we went! Me, John, Dasha and Captain stew grabbed our rods defrosted some bait and set out for a nice relaxing night.

It started out relaxing. We steamed around looking for some bass read a few nothing great. Did a few drifts. Nothing. Made a few slow fluke drifts. Dasha and I were winning on the boys against girls and were picking a few. Then a change of location BAM! FISH ON! FISH IN! FISH EVERYWHERE! Yes there were only four of us (and 2 dead sticks) But it was slammer fishing for the rest of the night. We limited out and would have had a few more but it we enforced a strict no net policy. I lost 3 that looked like they would have stayed up one was around 4lbs. Every color under the sun was used I had pink and blue, john had white, my dad had yellow and Dasha was using black. The plain bait in the rod holder caught too!

It was a great night and made me really miss just fishing with my Dad. Reminded me of all the times he would take fishing. No business, No worries if you catch, no nothing. Just family spending time together: only this time he let me drive.

So mothers day started off slow. Few drifts a couple keepers a stray short or two. Change of location. Not much better few keepers at ever spot not much going on. so another change of location and tackle we tried for some bass, we got a handful of shorts and keepers. We went back fluking and first drift 3 keepers, next drift 4 keepers! We stayed on that line and grinded it out til we completely lost our drift. By that time is was ready to go home anyway so we blew three whistles and went in! Buck tailing was the way to go today!

4:30 trip we had Just enough people to go for the night. Glad we did! Went back to that spot we fished earlier at the end of the day . First few drifts were tuff. Hard southwest pushed us at almost 2 knots. The wind eventually eased and he fish started to chew! By the end of the night we had 18 keepers and some very happy people. With the fast drift and the light bite dragging bait caught all the keepers except for one. Very glad I went fishing tonight :)

Had a mixed bag today. The mates worked extra hard!
We jigged in the morning. Although I read them very well we only picked at them and bagged one keeper.
Switched to fluke. It was lots of action with shorts and not a terrible keeper ratio. High hook on keepers was Scott with 3 beauties. Honorable mention to young Chris who stepped up to the plate today and hooked and reeled in his first keeper fluke all by himself! Future sharpie alert!
During slack when the action on the fluke got slow we were absolutely inundated with giant scup! We were able to make nice long drifts and people who wanted fluke we able to keep there buck tails on and keep catching some fluke while others filled there buckets with tasty delicious porgies! sailing daily 7am and 4:30!

Rain this morning didn't keep our hearty regulars away. Sailed with a light crowd of talented familiar faces. After a few drops with little to no fish, action improved tremendously.

High was Kyle and Bob going head to head with around 40 fluke if not more We had an average of around 2 keepers per person. Everything was caught on light tackle buck tail and teaser. Every color in the rainbow was used today. Almost every one of the fish were on the top hook. They seemed much more aggressive and some even chased the bait and other fish up to the surface.

After a few hours of good fluke fishing we took a break to do some porgy fishing... which well... sucked. BUT the ones we got were big! lol There still spawning so it a matter of min at a spot can make the difference. Unfortunately we may have missed the bite today. We quickly went back to fluke fishing and tried out a few spots catching fish at each one.

Everyday is slowly getting better. Fish are starting to fill in nicely.

Sailed with a light crowd today. Fluke conditions are slowing improving. There was a few fish everywhere we went, more bait than the other day and even a few pods of cocktail blues were popping up around the boat. Fish were mixed in weight. Some were flat and healthy like they have been there for a while and others were thinner and still had fleas which is a good sign that more will be on there way. Still not banner fishing but its well on its way. Pink worked well again but dragging bait actually produced more numbers.

At slack tide we decided to make a porgy drop. They started coming in slow and steady. Very good numbers on the scup. We caught what everyone wanted for dinner and then went back to fluke.

A friend of mine said he saw bass yesterday we took a quick look for them today but they haven't shown up for me yet. Still keeping my fingers crossed they will show up like last year.

Any questions you can give me a call

Hello ALL!

After a mild winter and lots of preparation we were back on the grounds today. I wish I could write saying that we slaughtered them and hype up this season but it was a just a solid start to what I can see as being another great season.

Despite the forecast we still had around 20 anglers that managed to stay in good spirits even with the pouring rain. We picked all day with some life everywhere we went. The fish seemed to be there but just hanging on the bait (lots of half spearing coming up and the people who used smaller bounces with bucktails did better. And Dragging bait and buck tailing worked about the same. Pink seemed to be the best color. High hook was young Haylee who I was afraid the boys we were going to use her for bait if she caught one more fish!By the end of the day the rain left and the sun came out so we stayed out a little later to enjoy the warm weather and good conversation.

All the fish looked healthy fat and good color so I think once we get a day with a decent drift and a little more fine tuning they will chew just fine. There is also some porgy's showing up so watch the reports in case we push our beginning porgy date up BUT its always porgy time on the Osprey so clam is available is anyone wants) Thank you again to our die hards who braved the rain to be there opening day!

Very good porgy fishing again today, most at or very close to limits of nice size porgies. Just over a week left in the bonus season. Didn't spend any time trying for blackfish specifically because the porgy fishing has been so good. High hooks were Dennis and Jack with over 40 fish, ORL. No spot was red hot but all the places we went produced some fish which by the end of the day added up to what we needed.

We will continue spending the bulk of our day porgy fishing during the bonus season with some blackfishing every day. As the water cools the blackfishing will improve, we will always have crabs on the boat and will usually make some drops specifically targeting blackfish most days conditions permitting. After the bonus season has ended then it will be blackfishing with some targeted porgy fishing.

Excellent fishing the last few trips:
Thursday night was one stop shopping once the storm blew past, high hook had close to thirty porgies on a short trip
Friday AM Amanda had the helm and put the boat on a mess of porgies, blues and even some striped and sea bass. High hooks had over forty fish easily between the blues and porgies, they were filleting right up until the 4:30 trip left.
Friday PM was one drop fishing, went right to where Amanda left them biting and they were still there, loads of large and jumbo porgies with a few blues and sea bass mixed in, high hooks having about 25 fish.

Seems like all the fall players are lining up for the season. Full day wreck and rock bottom fishing trips for porgies and blackfish kick off tomorrow sailing 7am to 3pm-ish, all bait and tackle included

Kids needed a night off tonight so they sent the old man out. Couldn't ask for a prettier night. It was the kind of night you dream of all winter. Cool, light cloud covering and a light off shore breeze.
All out Porgy slaughter on the starboard side, difficult for people on the port side because the breeze held the boat perpendicular to the tidal currents. Crowded as many people as we could on the fish side and would like to give a special thanks to the people when reaching three time the limit (rol) gave up their place at the rail so kids from the other side could catch their limit.
All in all, it was the kind of night that reminds me why I love this business.

Plenty of room tomorrow so come on down. JP and Amanda are doing real well with the fluke during the day so it is a great time to fish.
July 1, 2011
At 6:44 A.M. Today My phone rang. "Amanda sorry but were going to need you to come down we have a good crowd." I laid in bed for 30 more seconds clutching my

pillow thinking about all of my chores, laundry and errands that aren't going to get done again today before sprinting out the door to the boat.

43 keeper fluke later I was glad I got that phone call!

High hook was Tom of the long island sharks with 4 keepers (rol)

Honorable mention to Terri who landed 2 fish over 6 lbs making all the boys jealous! Mickey limited out with fish up to 5 lbs and had the pool fish for a good part of the trip. Eddy won with a 6lbs 7oz fish. Artie/Clyde keep his duck company with 2 nice slobs and missed the pool by just an ounce.

It was a great trip to work deck for a change and spend some quality time with really good people. I love seeing these local fluke just out side the front door.

Worked deck on last nights porgy trip for captain James. Slow start to the night with a pick of fish. Some people were able to get there limits other not as lucky BUT we didn't give up! By the end of the night it was slammer fishing! Double headers 2-3 lb porgies flooded the buckets. Captain James was nice enough to put in the over time that was needed to ensure everyone went home with more than enough scup.

Local fluke fishing was red hot today. A full boat of anglers produced over 600 shorts and 38 keepers.  The largest fish was 7 lbs 11oz caught by Paul Cabarea. He also had 4 keepers (rol) 22 inches, 22.5 inches, 24 inches, and 26 inches landing them all in size order!
Willy Nieves caught his first keeper ever, 7lbs and well worth the "weight" 9 year olds Graydon Holubar and Matthew Kelly had fish up to 5.7 lbs.
Runner up in the pool was Alex with a 7lb 5oz fish.  Larger fish have moved into local waters and they are hungry! Great action for the family. Sailing Monday-Friday 7-2 for fluke, 4:45pm for Porgies
Saturday and Sundays 7-11, 12-4. 4:45-8:45 combo.

Today was our kids fish free trip. The weather scared people away but the hardy souls that did show were glad they did! We started off with porgy's. It was a perfect warm up for the day. After we landed a solid amount of scup, We put the jigs and threw some metal. Blues and bass busting the surface blood guts, fish hitting the deck. Kids and Adults all caught lots and blues and a good amount of keeper
bass.

We be doing a kids fish for free trip once a month. Check the website and Facebook for updates!

Didn't due any fluking yesterday because we had a charter in the morning from Maryhaven that enjoyed great scup fishing on the morning trip

Then on our 4:45 trip started out jigging with some keepers and some shorts but they just didn't seem to want to bite so after a few drifts with no fish we changed into scup mode and caught the heck out of them, limits for all. The bonus of it was that while scup fishing we would occasionally get blitzes by a bass or two. The pool fish, caught by Tony D. was close to a 20 bass caught on his porgy rig, he caught one keeper jigging and 3 keeper bass while porgy fishing, ORL. We also saw some fluke while on the hook as well and a couple of blues.

Fishing is getting red hot so come on out

Beautiful day out there today. Our 7-11 trip saw great porgy fishing, quickly getting our limit and then switched gears to fluke and put together some good action on the shorts with a fair amount of keepers with James Oh of the jersey boys fishing club leading the way with his limit of nice fat fluke. Pool fish was about 5 lbs

Then on our 12-4 we used that extra horsepower we have and burned down the beach a ways to fish where we've been getting some real nice fluke and the speed paid off. Had countless short action and over twenty keepers with the pool fish at over 6lbs.

Another good day fluking today on the full day trip, a bunch of limit catches again today with Jack Winston Marlboro leading the way with 7 keepers, ORL, Vick won the pool with a 7lber plus limited out. After fluking made a few bass drifts and put a good amount of them in the buckets with Nor'easter Joefin getting 3 keeper bass, ORL, along with his limit of fluke.

The 4:45 trip tonite was also very good. We started jigging and put a bunch of bass and some blues in the boat. When the tide let up we went porgy fishing and were able to catch a good amount of them as well

The summer is really kicking off.

After a really tough morning with east wind, little to no porgies or fluke, the Port Jefferson fleet got on the Striped bass and smoked them! The Osprey V ended up with 45 keepers and threw back about 100 shorts! Tonight it was too hard to resist the call and everyone agreed that bass fishing seemed the way to go.

So far 22 keepers with just 6 fish away from our boat limit.

Tomorrow's afternoon bass trip leaves at 4:45pm. Don't miss out on this great fishing while it lasts.

Hope to see you here! Here are some nice fish from tonight's trip.

Not the best conditions today. East gusting to 20. Went to go hide in the bay.
With wind against tide conditions we didn't have a good fluke drift so we went jigging. We had 11 keeper bass and one blue fish. About 30-40 short bass went back. Heading out again for bass on Monday at 4:45. Hope to see you there!

Thunderstorms scared a lot of the people away tonight but with how the weather turned out we decided what the heck let's go fishing so off we went with a light crowd and am I glad we did. 7:00 TRIP

The worst of the worst conditions for the first few hours of the trip. Only a few shorts on the first few drifts.  Everyone was patient and waited for conditions to improve. As the hard outgoing started to subside we were able to get a good drift with the wind. Fishing picked up with tons of action with an enjoyable keeper ratio. making what started as a " you should have been here yesterday" trip into a "glad I took the day off from work!" day real fast.  Half a dozen people landed about a dozen keepers Biggest being 5-6lbs. Solid day out there today!  It was more of a pick of nice fat keepers with a few shorts mixed in the morning. As the tide pick up so did the short action. After a location change in the afternoon we had a few drifts with solid action. Ended the day with 20 or so keepers and about 150 shorts.  Mike won the pool with a 5lber and he was also high hook with god only know how many shorts! (?40?)

This week started out for me on a slow note. Mondays 7am trip was great weather and great people but slow fishing. We had a tough morning on porgies only putting a few in the boat. After waiting for some tide we finally got a pick of fish and ground it making some long drifts on rocky bottom. We tried to anchor and chum but the fish never really settled in one spot. We ended up with 120 fish. Not a horrible day but def. Not a a sign of what was to come for the rest of the week.

Monday-4:45 - 1 spot wonder. Everyone had there limit of giant porgies by half way through he trip. After we caught put porgies we went jigging and had a few really good drifts on the blues.

Tuesday 7 am- first two spots we had some shots of good size fish. Got about half way to our limit and fished up at the third spot. After our porgy limit was reached we did a little jigging but only caught a few.

Tuesday- 4:45- Captain J.P. Puts another full boat limit in the boat fallowed by good jigging.

Wednesday 8am charter- 33 passengers. 230 porgy's in the boat with 50% being 2lb fish or better. They wanted to try a little jigging so half way through the trip we switched and jigged a handful of cock tail blus.

Wednesday 4:45- mix of bluefish and porgy's not sure if it was a full boat limit but it was a fun relaxes atmosphere and those who stayed focused got there limits and some blues and others came really close.

Thursday- 17 pass limited out on porgies by 9:15. Switched to the jigs but it was so hot and we only has a a few people so we went chunking. It was a killer bite. All the blues 6-12lbs. Absolutely nuts. Me, jeff and Travis didn't even get a min. To stop. Great trip looking forward to get out there again!

Thursday- non stop fishing with a full boat limit on scup.

Not sailing tonight because of weather but hopefully this passes quick and we can get out there again.

Been kind of lacking on the reports lately, summers flying by and been real busy. porgy fishing is starting to heat up, at or near a full boat limit this morning, started slow today but found the hungry ones late in the morning and finished strong.

Tonight had middle island fire department charter, started out jogging with not much to show, then did some scupping and picked at them then went back to jigging for sunset and whacked the blues on a drift that was half a mile long

Wednesday night got a quick limit on the scup then targeted the sea bass, getting a handful and finished the night with a bunch of blues on the bottom fishing rigs

Tuesday night started a little slow with slim pickin's at a few spots but they chewed their little faces off into the sunset for an almost boat limit

Things are starting to shape up beautifully for the fall run

Just talked to Capt J.P. Who ran the Boat today. He reported was a little slower but still had some nice size fish 1-2lbs. There was a 9 ft tide and it was blowing out of the east so drifting for them wasn't really an option and at anchor alot of lead was used. Ended up with about 60 scup.

jigging was amazing! Nice mix size of fish.100 blue fish in the 2-8lb range. Short bass too!!

Can't ask for much more than having a day like today! The water was like glass, the weather was cooler than it's been and the fish were very hungry!

We started out
porgy fishing drifting in some deep water picking some nice 2lb porgies. Enough action the keep us busy for a while. As the tide eased we anchored up on a piece where we caught a handful of GAINT porgies and about 25 beautiful big sea bass.

Switched to
blue fish with the out going water and destroyed them for about an hour.  Had our buckets full of blue fish about 2-4lbs and went back to porgies.

Porgy action for the rest of the trip was killer! we finished up our limit of scup and went home!

Superstar today was 10 year old Sara from rocky point who had caught over 18 fish her self and showed up Pop-Pop! You go girl!

Pool Fish was a 4lb blue caught by Joe A.

Great time to get out there the fish are biting!

Have the Suffolk county bar association on the boat today. A wonderful group of people whom I hAve had the pleasure of taking out for the past few years. After having some what of a slow trip last year we are making up for it big time.

Started the day
porgy fishing. We drifted in the morning and caught some real big sea bass and porgies put about 60 in the boat when I got a call from Captain Des who said he was slaying the blues just south of me. So I started up the engines and we having been slaughtering the blues for the past couple hours. Nice cocktail size.

We are currently taking a lunch break as requested and will resume porgy fishing in a half hour.

I would like to thank the SCBA for the loyalty and good spirits year after year and always making it a great trip. And thanks Des for the team work as always.

As usual the Porgies did a disappearing act the beginning of July. I am always reluctant to post that they have returned unless I am really sure. The last three 4:45 pm porgy trips could be called good, better and great! So after three trips, I think it is safe to say, Porgies are back!

So if you want to share in the fun, come on down plenty of room on the boat to do some great fishing.

Sorry for the lack of reports lately, holiday weekends are killers. The weekend Saturday was solid with the noon trip being very good. Sunday was solid but not as good as Saturday. Both days caught endless jumbo shorts but Saturday had more of the mammoth keepers

Monday started as a pick on the keepers with endless jumbo shorts. Had about twenty keepers on the boat in the afternoon when the tide changed and it busted wide open, got around 30 keepers or so in the last hour and a half to finish with 50+ keepers on the day

Tuesday had the day off but was told the charter we had did well on the catching but the keeping was a little slow

Today we got a full boat limit for a light crowd, high hook was four keepers with Artie winning the pool with a 5lbr, ROL

June 25, 2010     Banner ridiculous insane great savage no joke porgy fishing!!
Had a wonderful trip last night with the gang from Huntington hospital. It was amazing fishing. 45 min after start of fishing we had our boat limit of large to jumbo porgies. (650) we spent the rest of the trip as a cruise taking a tour of smith town bay. Jon, Jimmy the bucket, Michael, and myself cleaned and bagged porgies for the next 3 hours.

I would like to thank Susan and Capt Jon Trotter for organizing such a nice night on the water and the rest of the Huntington hospital for making it such a nice night!

With the giant school of porgies I see this fishing holding up for quite some time!

With this amazing fishing we have we will be spending some time porgy fishing on all half day trips.

Worked deck today Capt J.P. at the wheel. Fluking was very good on the am trip around 300 shorts 18 keepers. The shorts were around 17-20 1/2 inches. They are FAT!!

Don won the pool with a 5.4lb fish. The fish was the size a 4lber but just like yesterday pool fish it was thick. Tom had a scale with him with so we weighed it up!! Congrats to ten year old Dillion who won the contest between him and his two friends on who would catch the most. He landed on top with 21 fluke! Not to shabby for his first time fluking!

Porgy fishing tonight was off. We were reading plenty of fish under the boat but just couldn't get them to chew good. It was just one of those nights. Beautiful night with wonder full people makes a great night anytime. Thank you guys for a nice night on the water :).

Fluke were on the slower side today. A few nice big ones were caught but not a home run hit. On the brighter side of things the porgies were very cooperative. Most anglers caught there limit. Others more (orl) some less but everyone went home with a nice bag of fish. Tomorrow we have a full day charter. We will NOT have a 7am or a noon trip we WILL however have an evening porgy trip. 4:45.

I don't even know the best way to describe the porgy fishing right now with out sounding like I'm a big liar. Capt Chris from the Celtic Quest and I were discussing the monster porgy's we are catching in Port Jefferson, the bottom is paved with fish 30 feet off the bottom! He summed it up in one word "EPIC". These are the days I will experience and be able to say "remember when..."

Tonight trip is almost over we have limited out with out a problem most of the fish that went back were legal keepers size but anglers had already achieved there new York state limit. This is to the bottom you got um fishing! We are trying diamond jigging now for a change of pace since not even half way through the trip we weren't aloud to keep anymore.

I'll post later to let you know what lucky angler won the 10 free trips with the biggest porgy tonight.

9 am - 2pm trip today. Got off the dock late about 9:45. First couple fluke drifts were very good. 100-150 shorts. 7 keepers. Lost the tide. Tried to jig some surface blues. They were not very cooperative.  Switched back to fluke and caught a few more keepers b4 we had to go home. Ended up with 12 keepers and a handful of blues.

June 2, 2010
Great fishing in the am! First half of the trip was just sick fishing. Some anglers compared it to porgy fishing. One after another flew into the boat. Several keepers in the mix. A ton of heart breakers 20-20 1/2 inch fish. The second half of the day slowed down compared to the first. Lots of laughter and good conversation filled any of the lows through out the day. The fish are big fat and healthy! High hook was about Jerry who had about 30 fish. Ended up with 15 for the day.

4:45 trip- on the way out we saw some blues busting. Everyone agreed it looked to good to pass up. It was. We could have kept out limit but 15 blues is a lot so everyone kept what they could eat and through the rest back. George T. Even caught a keeper bass! Weighed in at About 15lbs. We even jigged up a bunch of scup! Switched back over to fluke and in the short time we fished we landed 9 keepers and a few shorts. Congrats to Brain who limit on in one shot! Double header keeper!!! First one of the season. 6lb on top and 22 inch on the bottom!!

Good day today lots and lots of action and only a few fish shy of a boat limit. All fares went home with 2 keepers. High hook was hard to say some anglers had 6 or 7 others 20-25. Going again tomorrow 7 am!

Full Boat Limit Again!!
Twisted my ankle on last nights trip and was convinced that I would be ok. At 5 am still not better so I had to miss another killer fluke day. Gave Captain James a call around 10 am and already was well on his was to limiting out. High hook was Bill with 6 keepers. ( only retained limit) Most anglers had 15-20 shorts. They had our limit for customers by 11am and full boat limit by 12. Pool fish was once again Bob Collins 5 1/2lber. Way to go bob! I'm going to take advantage of not being and to walk and I'm going fishing.

Open boat tomorrow come on down!!!!

1/2 weekends and holidays start sat. Full day trips resume Tuesday. Night 4:45pm porgy start June 8th.

Full Boat Limit!!
Another gorgeous day on the water! First few drifts were on the slow side wind against tide. A few shorts and some

nice 4-5lb keepers came up over the rail. First fish was a birthday fish from Giuseppe with a 5lber who is Turning 13 tomorrow! First blast of out going water produced 10 keepers up to 8.5lbs! High hook was Bobby sole 6 and Jim boe with 7. ( only retained limit) . Very good short action 20-30 for most anglers. Fluking is hot today!

A beautiful day on the  OSPREY IV, with Capt JP at the helm and Travis working deck. 14 fares managed 25 keepers with the pool going to Bob with a 6+ flattie. There were well over 200 shorts many in the 20"+ range. Picked a few 1-2 lb Cocktails, the good eatin' kind. Gorgeous day, flat seas and it is looking just as good for tomorrow. Port Jefferson calls!

Sailed today with 31 passengers. Started out the day with a bang nice size keepers on the first drift with alot of action. Most of the outgoing tide produced action with keepers in the mix. It died off where we were due to lack of tide so headed back WEST for the incoming tide. Picked some nice sized fluke along the edges of the shoal. Ended the day with 28 keepers and over 100 jumbo shorts.

Plenty of room this weekend. Visit our website or call up to make a reservation.

Sailed last night on the 4:30 fluke with 13 fares. Trip started out slow sw wind with outgoing tide created a real fast drift. Despite not great conditions it was a nice steady pick of keepers. Including Malike with a 8.5lber and Caitlin with a 6lber. It was Malike and Caitlins first time fluking! Around 7 o'clock the drift slowed down the short action picked up along with a bunch more keepers. Trip total was 16 keepers for the night.

Bucktailing still worked best and pink and white caught the bigger fish.

12 anglers today

May 17, 2010 AM tossed some legal fish back on our last drift. High hook was Pauly the banker with 5 keepers. Pink teasers seemed to catch the best.

Saw some surface fish at the on our way back in stop for a while but the tide was ending and they didn't want to bite.

Calm winds and hungry fluke-Now thats the way to start the season. The Osprey V made her maiden voyage with Capt James at the helm. Lots of action with the not so short shorts, and about 15 or so keepers.

Capt Amanda was at the helm on the 4:30 trip. She had similar results. There is an abundence of sand eels, more so then past years which should ensure some great fishing. It's more fun to experience this then read about it. Come on down sailing at 7am daily.

Regards
